This new course for all staff explores what it takes to make the most of our abilities so that we achieve what we want, whilst being true to our values. The course will be loosely structures around the first three habits of Stephen Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People:

1. Be proactive

2. Begin with the end in mind

3. Put first things first

The training will be highly interactive with opportunities for personal reflection and action planning.

Code: PCC/20/355 MCA - Best Practice for Best Interest Meetings and Decisions (Cancelled)

Course Outline


A one-day training session to give participants the skills necessary to plan, participate in and chair Best Interests Meetings, in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The ultimate aim would be for practice to improve which would in turn lessen the likelihood of complaints being made, or cases being escalated to the Court of Protection.

Who should attend?


All professional staff who are required to carry out these tasks. All participants should come to the training with a thorough understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, as there will not be the time to cover the basics of the Act or the Code of Practice.
