Course description

MCA - Best Practice for Best Interest Meetings and Decisions delivered by ST Thomas Training

Delegates must attend both sessions to complete the course - please add both dates into your calendar

A two part training session to give participants the skills necessary to plan, participate in and chair Best Interests Meetings, in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The ultimate aim would be for practice to improve which would in turn lessen the likelihood of complaints being made, or cases being escalated to the Court of Protection.

Who should attend?

All professional staff who are required to carry out these tasks. All participants should come to the training with a thorough understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, as there will not be the time to cover the basics of the Act or the Code of Practice.

This course is a virtual course run via Zoom or Teams - joining instructions will be sent to via diary invite a week before the course date.

Please note, this course will have regular breaks for participants so please ensure you take yourself away from the screen. The course is aimed to be interactive

Training objectives

What can I expect?
An interactive session aimed at encouraging participants to ask questions, make comments and bring up their own issues through the use of a range of different methods including quizzes, case studies, video clips and small group work as well as direct teaching.
